Precautionary measures

The Werder players started the day by trying on the new Roy Robson suits and LLOYD shoes but it wasn’t long until they swapped the business wear for their training gear. The penultimate public training session took place in the morning before the team flies to Zillertal for their second training camp. Santiago Garcia and Luca Caldirola were forced to stop training early.

Pulled muscle for Grillitsch

SV Werder’s week of training got under way on Monday afternoon without Florian Grillitsch. The Austrian suffered a pulled muscle in his right thigh last Saturday, in a friendly against VfB Lübeck.  The Green-Whites will now have to travel to their training camp in Zillertal without the 20-year-old.

Werder draw 1-1 with Lübeck

SV Werder Bremen drew their third pre-season friendly 1-1 with VfB Lübeck on Saturday evening. Viktor Skripnik’s men got off to an excellent start thanks to Fin Bartels’ sixth minute strike, but they were unable to add to their advantage. Florian Kainz and Izet Hajrovic struck the woodwork but a late strike from Kubilay Büyükdemir saw the game end level.

Werder hit Neuruppin for eight

SV Werder Bremen inflicted a comprehensive 8-0 defeat upon the Neuruppin select side on Saturday morning. Viktor Skripnik’s men were 2-0 up at the break but ran riot in the second half. The head coach used the game to look at as many players as possible and he is bound to have been impressed with what he saw.

Reunion after twelve years

Two friendlies in one day! It will be a friendly match double header for the Green-Whites on Saturday, 16th July. Following a game against a Neuruppin town XI at midday, Viktor Skripnik’s team will face VfB Lübeck, who won last year’s WIESENHOF Tennis Ball Challenge. The clash against the Regionalliga side will conclude Werder’s first pre-season training camp.

Oelschlägel on standby for the Olympics

Werder’s young goalkeeper Eric Oelschlägel may well be taking part in the 2016 Olympic Games for Germany in Rio de Janeiro. The 20-year-old has been put on standby, according to a statement from the DFB on Friday afternoon.

Werder to play friendly against 1860 München in Zillertal

The final details have been confirmed and there will be an extra friendly during Werder’s training camp in Zillertal. The Green-Whites will play TSV 1860 München as well as Huddersfield.  The clash with the 2. Bundesliga side will take place at the Parkstadion in Zell am Ziller on Saturday, 23rd July at 15:00 CEST. It will be the third pre-season match to take place between the two clubs.

Werder to face Lotte on Sunday

The German Football Federation (DFB) confirmed the schedule for the first round of this year’s DFB Cup on Thursday morning. Werder will travel to third division side Sportfreunde Lotte on Sunday, 21st August 2016. The match will kick off at 15:30 CEST.

Werder clinch victory in opening friendly

SV Werder Bremen opened their account for 2016/17 with a 2-1 victory over VSG Altglienicke in Berlin. Skripnik’s men went in front before the break thanks to a header from Fallou Diagne, with Izet Hajrovic wrapping up the success in the second half.

The hard work starts here

Florian Grillitsch’s pre-season hasn’t gone to plan so far. The Austrian midfielder has been suffering from an ear infection, which has meant that he has only been able to train individually to date. The 20-year-old has travelled to the training camp with his teammates and it is hoped that he will be able to return to full training in the coming days.

Start of the season finalised

With around six and a half weeks to go until the start of the new Bundesliga season, the German Football League has released the exact fixtures for the first five matchdays. Hard work in peaceful surroundings

Moin moin, Neuruppin! After a four-hour coach journey, SV Werder Bremen arrived at the Resort Mark Brandenburg hotel. The players will spend a week in the region in order to work on stamina and athleticism. “The foundation work for the season will take place here,” remarked sporting director Frank Baumann.

SV Werder’s first pre-season training session took place on Sunday morning. After the conclusion of the exercise the squad left Bremen and headed to Neuruppin, where a training camp will take place until next Saturday.

Lorenzen hospitalised

Melvyn Lorenzen suffered facial injuries after being attacked outside of his house on Sunday morning. The 21-year-old forward was taken to hospital, where he currently remains, in an ambulance. He was due to travel to Neuruppin alongside his teammates for the training camp but is now set to be out of action for three weeks.
