A point won

Werder went into half time in Gladbach trailing 2-0, a score line that didn’t really reflect the balance of power out on the pitch. Werder started poorly on Friday night, but came back in the second half with a vengeance. By the end, it was a draw that was a moral victory and a point that felt a whole lot better than the ones earned against Mainz and Hoffenheim. The Green-Whites were clearly...

Solid as a rock

+++ Nothing gets past Pavlenka: After the Nordderby victory this weekend, Jiri Pavlenka claimed his seventh clean sheet of the season, which is already a reason to celebrate. Jiri is the only keeper to rack up such a high tally since the 09/10 season with Tim Wiese between the sticks at the Weserstadion. All-clear for Bargfrede, wait and see for Pavlenka

It's been a calm couple of days at the Weserstadion and on the training pitches as the players have been rewarded some hard-earned rest after the brilliant 3-1 home victory against Wolfsburg. “We weren’t always good but we were clever.”

Florian Kohfeldt’s pulse was definitely racing at the start of the second half. Despite taking a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break, the Green-Whites were unlucky to concede a soft penalty and Wolfsburg pulled a goal back. What followed was, as Zlatko Junuzovic put it, “crunch time” as Wolfsburg looked ever more dangerous. Kohfeldt said, “It wasn’t easy to keep up the intensity through this busy...
