His role on the pitch has been reinforced since was awarded the captain’s armband, which Klaassen has been wearing to replace an injured Niklas Moisander. However, the added pressure is nothing new for the Dutchman, as he made clear in the Mixed-Zone on Tuesday...

All that stands between them and making this goal a reality are 90 minutes...

After celebrating his long-awaited comeback in the game against RB Leipzig, coach Florian Kohfeldt also threw him on for the final minutes in Frankfurt. “The short appearances have been god for me. After my injury I don’t have the fitness to play 90 minutes so the friendly against St. Pauli will be a good test for me to see...

Vital in defence as well as attack

Since his return from injury, Maximilian Eggestein has been unspectacular yet effective for The Green-Whites in their past two Bundesliga games, which is exactly what head coach Florian Kohfeldt has demanded from him. Even if Eggestein isn’t quite the leading attacking force for the team, he is still absolutely indispensable to Werder’s line-up. The 21-year-old’s importance to Florian Kohfeldt is...
