Werder obtain licence for 2020/2021

SV Werder Bremen has obtained its licence for the 2020-21 season with no conditions attached. The Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) announced this on Monday. The exceptions to the coronavirus pandemic decided on the 31st of March by the DFL General Assembly were taken into account. ​​​​​​

Romano Schmid joined Werder in January 2018 before being loaned out to Wolfsberger AC. This summer, after one and a half years at WAC, the 20-year-old will return to Bremen, something he is already looking forward to. Romano Schmid set for summer return

Romano Schmid is currently at Wolfsberger AC waiting for the Tipico Bundesliga season to resume, as the Austrian top flight’s season was extended until 30th June. The 20-year-old, who is spending the season on loan at the Austrian side, will return to SV Werder Bremen in the summer and be a part of Florian Kohfeldt’s squad.

Next steps after individual training

On Monday, SV Werder and the Bremen Senate have agreed on conditions permitting the first team to resume training in small groups. The team began training under these strict conditions on Tuesday. Werder CEO Frank Baumann is pleased with this development. "We are happy to be able to take the next step, after weeks of individual training," he told WERDER.TV.
