A member of the Werder Bremen first team squad tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, after a round of tests was carried out. The rest of the players returned negative results. The player in question is in a good condition and has no symptoms.
After discussions with the Bremen health authorities, the player is currently undergoing home quarantine. The health authorities also advised that one other member of the first team squad, along with a member of club staff should quarantine for 14 days despite returning negative results.
To ensure greater safety for the rest of the squad and coaching team, all players, coaches and club staff will undergo voluntary home quarantine until the next round of testing on Friday. Therefore, the regenerative training on Thursday will not take place. Further Covid-19 tests will be carried out on Friday morning so that preparations for Sunday’s home game against Hoffenheim can be resumed promptly.
