Almost all of the players will be spending this ‘long weekend’ in Bremen. No-one will travel abroad due to the coronavirus pandemic. “One or two might spend Christmas night with their parents or siblings,” says Kohfeldt. Theodor Gebre Selassie will be spending Christmas in Bremen for the first time; he usually travels to his home country, the Czech Republic. “Like everything, Christmas is a bit different this year. Obviously I’m a bit sad not to see my family, but it’s something different and we’re looking forward to a couple of days off,” says Gebre Selassie.
The head coach is also looking forward to a few days when everyone takes a break. “It’s just a really short break, but the Christmas break is sometimes more relaxing than the summer one, because everyone has the time off. Typically, no-one comes to work for those three days, and I hope it’s the same this year too.”
Florian Kohfeldt has five days of training with his side ‘between the years’, when he can focus again on the Bundesliga and the first game against Union Berlin on 2/1/2021 (15:30 CET) in the wohninvest WESERSTADION. The final training session before the game is planned for New Year’s Day, when the press conference should also take place. By that time, the peaceful Christmas days will already be long gone…
