It was a successful evening in Zillertal as SV Werder Bremen beat LASK 4-1 after leading 2-0 at half time. The Green-Whites picked up where they left off, following the 2-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig in the team’s first pre-season friendly. Goals from Davie Selke (5’), Johannes Eggestein (16’), Josh Sargent (47’) and Yuya Osako (77’) were cheered by fans for the first time in months, as 500 spectators were allowed into the Parkstadion in Zell am Ziller subject to the hygiene regulations set out by local authorities. Marko Raguz pulled one back for the Austrian team as he converted a penalty in the 56th minute to make it 3-1.

Line-up and formation: Similar to the first friendly against Eintracht Braunschweig, head coach Florian Kohfeldt completely switched the team at half time with only Ömer Toprak and Marco Friedl playing the full 90 minutes. New arrival Tahith Chong made his debut for the Green-Whites during the first half. The 20-year-old played on the right wing and provided the assist for Johannes Eggestein’s strike to make it 2-0. After the restart, Kohfeldt changed his formation and introduced a midfield diamond in front of a four-man defence, with two strikers leading the line. Youngster Nick Woltemade played in central midfield for Werder.

First-half line-up: Pavlenka, Selke, Bittencourt, Agu, Toprak, Chong, J. Eggestein, Erras, Klaassen, Friedl, Mbom.

Second-half line-up: Kapino, Augustinsson, Friedl, Toprak, Gebre Selassie, M. Eggestein, Woltemade, Schmid, Osako, Füllkrug, Sargent.

Substitutions: Rieckmann (60‘) and Veljkovic (75‘).

Conclusions: Werder coach Florian Kohfeldt expressed his satisfaction after the match, which was broadcast live and free of charge on WERDER.TV and YouTube. "It was a real test for us,” he said. “We knew that we were going to meet a team who were already in full flow and playing with confidence. If I’m not mistaken, they fielded most of their starting XI today.”
