The final day of the transfer window has seen another player leave Bremen, as Johannes Eggestein has departed Werder for Austrian side Linzer ASK on a one-year loan. The move was agreed by the management of both clubs.
“The opportunity has presented itself to Johannes to take this next step in Linz. Following a tough pre-season, we’re expecting Johannes to get more game time there than here in Bremen with us,” explained Frank Baumann, Werder Bremen’s sporting director.
For head coach Florian Kohfeldt, the move is an important step in the development of the attacker: “Johannes needs to play more and at LASK, will be able to do so at an high level in the Europa League. He will return to Bremen in seven or eight months and we hope that by then, he will have developed his game sufficiently to become a regular started for Werder.”
Johannes Eggestein joined Werder U17s in 2013 and has since made the move from the youth set-up to the senior squad. Since then, the 22-year-old has made 55 competitive appearances for the Green-Whites and has scored 6 goals.
