SV Werder Bremen and Martin Harnik have agreed to terminate the 33-year-old’s contract with immediate effect. After a loan spell at Hamburger SV last season, Harnik had been released from team training and was training individually to keep fit.
“We had good discussions with Martin and were able to find a fitting and logical solution. We thank Martin for his efforts during his time at Werder Bremen, and wish him all the best for the future,” said Frank Baumann, SVW’S sporting director.
Martin Harnik made the jump to the first team from the Werder U23s, making 47 career appearances for the Green-Whites across all competitions (8 goals). Harnik returned to Werder on three occasions, following loans at Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Hannover. Last season, the attacker was on loan at Hamburger SV.
