“We could’ve got more from it,” said head coach Florian Kohfeldt after the 1-0 defeat against FC Bayern Munich. The Green-Whites played with passion and stuck to their game plan against the newly elected champions. The 37-year-old also went on to say that he was, “happy with the performance,” whilst at the same time being disappointed with the result. “Tonight we’re frustrated. From tomorrow we will focus on Mainz.”

On the game:

Florian Kohfeldt: “I think overall we deserved a point. There weren’t many chances for either side in the first half. We implemented our plan well apart from Coman’s chance and the goal. Offensively, we also had phases where we were brave and had some nice interplay. For example Maxi’s chance, as well as one or two others. In the end we definitely had enough chances to take home a point. The bottom line is that I’m happy with the performance and how we implemented our plan, but disappointed with the result. We deserved a result and it would’ve been good for us. So tonight the overwhelming feeling is frustration. We will turn our attention to Mainz from tomorrow.

Niklas Moisander: “We put in a good performance. And we have to take this with us going forward. We played with lots of passion and gave it our all. On Saturday it will be a completely different type of game, where we will have to create more offensively. We have to win and I’m confident that we will do it.”

Maximilian Eggestein: “We played well, but in the end we wanted to take points and we didn’t manage to do that. Nevertheless, the performance gives us confidence. We would have liked to take home points and I think that we deserved to score. We now have two cup finals ahead of us. We have to pick up points in order to stay in the league.”

Davy Klaassen: “We’re disappointed about the result. We were just lacking that little bit of luck at the end. However it was a very good save by Neuer.”

On the goal conceded:

Florian Kohfeldt: “I’m annoyed about conceding the free kick in the build-up; it was unnecessary. The free kick created chaos and then we made two mistakes after that. We either have to put Boateng under pressure or push up as a unit. We did 99% of it right, but unfortunately that’s not enough against Bayern.”

Maximilian Eggestein: “You can never stop everything against FC Bayern. We knew that they could play it out from the back well. We have to get out quicker in this situation so that we can play Lewandowski offside.”

Niklas Moisander: “They were dangerous with their chip through balls in the first half. And that’s what happened with the goal. Lewandowski did well, but we have to get closer to our man.”
