Two contrasting games with two very different results for Florian Kohfeldt's men on Sunday. While a more experienced XI beat WSG Swarosvki Tirol 1-0, a younger team made up of academy players were beaten 3-0 by Karlsruher SC. WERDER.DE rounds up all thre reaction from the Werder head coach.

The head coach viewed the first match "from a Bundesliga perspective" and was "very satisfied." Kohfeldt: "A lot went very, very well from a game perspective. On such a narrow pitch, we guarded against the counter well. We approached the game well, we dominated and absolutely deserved the win, I think. We're further than we were at this stage of pre-season last year."

Kohfeldt praises Pudic and Sargent

The second game saw Werder line up with - aside from Martin Harnik - exclusively young talents. "We can take a few things from this game on an individual basis," explained Kohfeldt, referring to two communication issues that led to goals conceded. "It wasn't all bad. You can't gorget that these boys played against a second division side who are much further along in their pre-season preparations, playing their second match today with their main starting XI. They had a few really good players today," Kohfeldt told WERDER.DE.

The 3-0 defeat to Karlsruher SC has given Kohfeldt "issues he can point at to show what was at times lacking." There were "a few good scenes" going forward. Josh Sargetn and Marin Pudic received explicit praise for their attacking efforts. However, "there were also things that shouldn't be happening."
