Big dreams on hold for Milot Rashica and the Kosovo national team, who were beaten in their penultimate qualifying group fixture by Jiri Pavlenka’s Czech Republic. Werder’s shot-stopper watched from the bench as his side booked their place at the 2020 European championship at Kosovo’s expense. Rashica and Co. now rely on qualification via the playoffs.

Milot Rashica played the full 90 minutes of the defeat in Czechia. Jiri Pavlenka’s side now have a four-point lead on Kosovo in Group A, guaranteeing them a place in the top two and thereby automatic qualification to the finals next summer. Not even with a surprise victory over group leaders England could Kosovo catch the Czechs.

However, since Kosovo won their Nations League group, their hopes of participating at the tournament are very-much alive. In March 2020, they will battle it out in the ‘Nations League Playoffs’ for one of the four remaining places at the EUROS, which will begin three months later.
