After a disappointing result in Mönchengladbach, seven Werder players are jetting off to meet up with their international teammates for the third international break of the season so far. An overview of all the players representing their countries:
Milot Rashica and Jiri Pavlenka are both faced with two crucial matches in their European Qualifying campaign. After missing out on the last set of international fixtures due to injury, the Kosovan will meet up with fellow teammate Jiri Pavlenka for a crucial match against the Czech Republic (14/11/19). This is followed by another blockbuster against group leaders England in the Kosovan capital of Pristina (17/11/19). Kosovo have the chance to qualify for a major tournament for the first time in their history if results go their way. For the Czech Republic, however, qualification is almost an expectation. The Czechs haven’t missed out on a major tournament since 1996.
Michael Lang will also take part in the final two qualifying games. Currently sat in third place, Switzerland still have a strong chance of finishing in one of the top two qualifying positions. Lang and Co. are the clear favourites in both of their remaining games, as they take on Georgia (15/11/19) and Gibraltar (18/11/19). Meanwhile, Denmark and Ireland, who are both currently above Switzerland in the table, still have to face each other.
Josh Sargent is back in action for his country in the CONCAF-Nations League as the USMNT take on both Canada (16/11/19) and Cuba (20/11/19). After the disappointing 2-0 defeat against Canada in October, Gregg Berhalter and his side are not only seeking a win in order to give them a chance of qualifying from the group, but are also looking to get revenge for the previous match.
Marco Friedl joins up with the Austrian U21 side as they take on Kosovo in their bid for qualification to the U21 European Championships (15/11/19). Austria currently sit in second place behind England in Group 3. They then travel to Budapest just three days later to take on Hungary in a friendly (18/11/19). Likewise, Johannes Eggestein is also involved in U21 European Championship qualifiers. The captain of Germany’s U21 side will meet up with his team for a match against Belgium in Freiburg on Sunday 17th November. Germany have a chance to add to their perfect start, after picking up six points from the first two games.
Benjamin Goller has the chance to make his fourth ever appearance for Germany’s U20 side as they take on Portugal in a friendly on Monday 18th November. Goller has been a key feature in Manuel Baum’s squad since he took the reins.
