Yuya Osako was Werder’s matchwinner on Sunday and was back in the goals for Japan yesterday too. The ‘Samurai Blue’ defeated Paraguay 2-0 in the “Kirin Challenge Cup 2019”. The 29-year-old scored the opening goal on the night before coming off in the 67th minute. Their next game is on Tuesday, 10/9/19 (14:20 CEST) against Myanmar in a World Cup qualifier.

Johannes Eggestein captained the new-look Germany U21s in their 2-0 home win over Greece. “Wearing the captain's armband filled me with pride,” said Eggestein. National coach Stefan Kuntz made eleven changes to his side at the break to give all his players a chance to impress ahead of the start of the qualifying campaign on Tuesday. Lukas Nmecha and Niklas Dorsch scored the goals in Zwickau.

Austria U21s began their Euro qualifying campaign with a 3-1 win and Werder defender Marco Friedl played the full 90 minutes. Romano Schmid, currently on loan at Wolfsberger AC, came on in the second half. Nicolas Meister (2) and Kevin Danso bagged Austria’s goals on the night.
