Time to return to the North! On Friday morning, Werder set off on their trip back to Bremen. After seven days of intense training in Grassau, Florian Kohfeldt’s team can now look ahead to their friendly against Everton. The head coach leaves with a positive impression of his team’s second training camp. “We worked extremely well and were able to complete a solid series of training sessions,” Kohfeldt said ahead of the return trip.

The head coach did not have to deal with any injuries, aside from Fin Bartels and Ludwig Augustinsson, whose individual training loads will not allow either of them to feature in the match against Everton. In the training sessions, Florian Kohfeldt emphasized securing the counter-attack via multiple drills featuring 22 players on the pitch.

The coach was particularly pleased to have had access to an “outstanding” training ground with the exact dimensions of a Bundesliga pitch. “Having that is especially important at this stage in pre-season,” said Kohfeldt, who was full of praise for the groundskeepers at ASV Grassau.

Off the pitch, the coaching staff met with each player individually. Adding to the positives from the second training camp of the summer in Grassau was the news of Florian Kohfeldt’s contract extension as well as the announcement of new team captain, Niklas Moisander.
