One thing is especially important for Baumann: Florian Kohfeldt is not just focused on winning the Bundesliga duels each weekend, but also on continuing the development of the entire team, as well as individual players. Additionally, he is not only interested in the senior squad, but in the club as a whole. “Florian perfectly represents the club’s values,” said Baumann. This can largely be attributed to Kohfeldt’s long stint with the club. He has been working for the club since 2001 and has been able to identify himself with the club’s model of a whole and harmonious “family” right from the start, leading by example.
Players, staff, fans and opponents will all say that the 36-year-old has an agreeable manner and a tendency to avoid the spotlight, something that Baumann confirms. “He is a team player who always puts his coaching staff first and who doesn’t like being in the spotlight himself, even though his position requires him to be the face of the club.”
However, Baumann does not believe that the club’s continued development or the compliments will go to Kohfeldt’s head. “Flo has remained grounded and will remain that way,” he said. “He has the right environment to do so not just within the club, but in his personal life as well.”
