SV Werder Bremen will face Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal round of 16. After two convincing wins in the first two rounds of the competition, head coach Florian Kohfeldt's side will seek to progress to the quarterfinals in early February.

The match between the Green-Whites and BVB will take place either on Tuesday, 4th February or Wednesday, 5th February 2020. The exact date and time of the match will be determined within the next few days. Werder will play their third DFB-Pokal match at home in the wohninvest WESERSTADION, after having already faced Atlas Delmenhorst and 1. FC Heidenheim in the previous two rounds at home.

"It's great that we'll be playing at home," said Werder's sporting director Frank Baumann. "It's a rematch of last year's round of 16 game, but this time on our own patch. The fans can look forward to a thrilling cup match under the floodlights." Midfielder Nuri Sahin is also looking forward to the match, saying "It's not an easy tie, but we proved last year that we take this competition seriously and that we can hold our own against strong opponents. Our goal is to make it to Berlin," said the 31-year-old, who will once again face his former club. "Of course, it's always special for me to play against BVB. With the fans supporting us, we have a good chance to win."

Head coach Florian Kohfeldt sees the match against the Champions League side as a big challenge. "It's one of the more difficult sides to be drawn against. We know that it won't be easy against Dortmund, but we know that with the fans' support behind us that we can do it, and are looking forward to another cup night in the wohninvest WESERSTADION."
