Bundesliga season allowed to resume in mid-May

The Federal Government and Ministers of the state have given the green light for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2. to resume their seasons. Chancellor Angela Merkel announced on Wednesday afternoon that the corresponding regulations, that had been put in place in mid-March due to the Coronavirus pandemic, have now been relaxed. As a result, play will be allowed to resume in the second half of May, in strict compliance with health and safety regulations, and without any spectators.

The German Football League (DFL) will advise via a virtual member’s meeting on Thursday as to how the league will continue under the current conditions. An exact date for the continuation of the league is yet to be determined.
