With another victory in Euro 2020 Qualification, Milot Rashica and Kosovo have improved their chances of making it to next summer’s tournament. The Werder striker will face his club team-mate Jiri Pavlenka in a do-or-die duel to reach the finals. Pavlenka also played on Monday evening, while Eggestein, Lang and Sargent all still have games to play.

Kosovo and Werder’s “rocket” Milot Rashica took another three points in qualification and have kept their euro 2020 dream alive. Rashica played the full 90 minutes in the 2-0 victory over Montenegro, and he was instrumental in securing the win.

After Kosovo’s third win in qualifying, it will now come down to a must-win showdown between the small Balkan nation and Jiri Pavlenka’s Czech Republic. A place at next summer’s tournament is now at stake for both teams. The permutations are clear: Kosovo must beat the Czechs, and then they must also beat England’s “Three Lions”. If Kosovo don’t beat England, then all of their hopes would be on Bulgaria causing an upset to their rivals.

However, the Czech Republic fluffed their lines in the dress rehearsal for the Kosovo match, as they slumped to a home defeat against Northern Ireland. With the score at 0-3 at halftime, the comeback came too late and the Czech Republic could only manage to get two goals back. Werder’s number one was in goal for the full 90 minutes of the 2-3 defeat.

Over the course of the evening, Johannes Eggestein and Michael Lang could also get some game time. Eggestein and the Germany U21s meet Bosnia-Herzegovina, while Lang and the Swiss “Nati” take on Ireland at home. Josh Sargent will bring the curtain down on this international break; the USA take on neighbours Canada in a CONCACAF Nations League match.
