Promising young talent Simon Straudi has signed a professional with SV Werder Bremen. The 20-year-old midfielder has agreed to sign a contract with the Green-Whites starting on 1st July 2019. Club sporting director Frank Baumann confirmed the deal on Tuesday morning.

“Simon is a young, talented player who has developed well in his first year in the Werder U23s squad. In the future, he should continue his positive development and move closer to the senior Bundesliga squad,” explained Green-Whites head coach Florian Kohfeldt.

Frank Baumann added: “We’re delighted that Simon has been convinced to continue his development with the club. We’ve been very satisfied with his development since he arrived from South Tyrol last summer. We are also convinced that he can make the step up to Bundesliga football here at Werder.”

Simon Straudi also wants to make the next step up in his career in Bremen. “I’m very proud to have this support from the club hierarchy here at Werder Bremen for the future. I’m always striving to improve each day to make my dream of playing in the Bundesliga and in the Weser Stadion a reality,” said the Italian.

Simon Straudi joined SV Werder Bremen U19s from Italian side FC Südtirol in the summer of 2016. The Italian went on to make 11 appearances for the U19s, scoring once.
