Despite an offering of five international games this evening, Kosovo's Milot Rashica and Sweden's Ludwig Augustinsson were the only two Werder players to feature on the international stage. It was a successful evening for both, however.

Milot Rashica got on the scoresheet for Kosovo in the 24th minute of their Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro. Despite scoring, Rashica's side went on to draw the game 1-1, their second draw in the qualifiers so far. Rashica and Kosovo are currently in third place in Group A, behind Czechia and England.

Ludwig Augustinsson played the full 90 minutes as Sweden cruised to a 3-0 home victory against Malta. Sweden remain second in their qualifying group with seven points from their opening three matches, trailing group leaders Spain by two points.

Former Green-White Mladen Krstajic was less fortunate on Friday night as his Serbia side fell to a 5-0 defeat in Ukraine. Werder centre-back Milos Veljkovic didn’t feature as Krstajic’s side fall to the bottom of Group B.

Felix Beijmo and Marco Friedl also didn’t feature for their respective national teams as Sweden and Austria warmed up for this month’s U21 European Championship in Italy and San Marino with friendlies. Friedl watched on as Austria U21s won 10-2 against a Southern Burgenland XI while Beijmo’s Sweden U21s side defeated Norway U21s 3-1.
