A few days ago, Japan picked up a disappointing result when they drew 0-0 against strong underdogs Trinidad and Tobago, with Werder’s Yuya Osako completing 90 minutes. On Sunday (09/06), the Samurai Blue could be much more pleased after a deserved 2-0 victory against El Salvador.

The Japanese national team are currently taking part in the Kirin Cup as they prepare for their Copa America campaign. In their second match of the tournament, Osako and Japan picked up their first victory. Werder’s attacker had to be patient as he made an appearance from the bench. Japan lead 2-0 at the break after a double from Kensuke Nagai, who plays his club football at J1 League side FC Tokyo. Osako came into the game in the 59th minute and saw out the victory in his final appearance of the 2018/19 season.
