SVW’s current form is synonymous with the name Max Kruse. No player in Europe’s top five leagues was involved in more club goals in February than Max Kruse. The captain is currently enjoying a great partnership with Milot Rashica. When Kruse set up Rashica to make it 1-0, the Kosovan returned the favour for the final goal of the game. “The more we play together the better it works. Everyone knows Max’s quality on the ball and he expects certain movements from me as a forward. We practice that a lot,” said Rashica when discussing the early goal.
Coach Florian Kohfeldt is also happy to have the team boast such a big goal threat whilst also playing fun, exciting football. “Max is doing a great job, both on and off the pitch. He creates the balance between relaxed and totally focussed on a matchday. He is a difference maker,” said the Werder coach. “Max makes his teammates better, but without a player like Harnik, who tears through space, or Klaassen, who has helped produce a good balance in the team, Max’s contribution wouldn’t be feasible.”
