In terms of centre-backs, Werder are still under pressure, but a “positive pressure”. With a great start to the Rückrunde, Werder can catapult themselves to the top third of the table and challenge for their target of a European place. A good understanding and positive pressure “can carry us,” according to Langkamp.
The success in Hannover and positive Rückrunde performances in recent years does not automatically guarantee wins, however. “We can’t allow ourselves to relax,” warned the 31-year-old. “We have to do everything we can to win. That was what we lacked especially during the middle section of the Hinrunde.” A home win against Frankfurt next Saturday would be a good step for another good second half of the season.
