Milot Raschica and the Kosovo national team began their European Championship qualifying campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Bulgaria. Serbia also celebrated a positive result, picking up a 1-1 draw away at title holders Portugal. Felix Beijmo, meanwhile, celebrated a 2-1 win with Sweden U21s against Scotland. WERDER.DE recaps all the action.

Milot Rashica started for Kosovo in their EURO qualifying opener and was the liveliest attacking player in the opening stages and almost fired his country in front early on. But it was Bulgaria who seized their chance and took the lead from a corner through Vasil Bozhikov on the stroke of half time. But Kosovo were able to level the score on the hour mark thanks to a Zeneli equaliser. Although both sides had chances to claim all three points, the game ended a 1-1 draw.

Milos Veljkovic and his Serbia colleagues paid a visit to holders Portugal in their first qualifier. However, the Werder defender watched on from the bench in Lisbon, as his team took an early lead through a Tadic penalty. Portugal took the wake up call and began to assert themselves and eventually rewarded themselves with an equaliser shortly before the break through Danilo Pereira. The hosts, who were without Cristiano Ronaldo who was withdrawn with an injury in the first half, dominated the second half, but were unable to find the second goal.

For the second game running, Felix Beijmo started for the Sweden U21 national team in Marbella, this time playing the full 90 minutes. The Swedes took a deserved lead, before opponents Scotland levelled after just 23 minutes. Shortly before the break, Sweden re-established their lead and held on to a narrow 2-1 victory.
