Tuesday evening was a success for both Felix Beijmo and Marco Friedl on international duty. In their final friendly ahead of the summer’s European U21 Championship in Italy and San Marino, Austria U21s beat joint-favourites France, while Sweden U21s beat neighbours Finland.

Felix Beijmo won’t be forgetting this match any time soon after the Werder full back scored his first goal for the Sweden U21s, in his fourth appearance, to level the match at 1-1. Emil Hansson’s late penalty to make it 3-2 decided the game in favour of the Swedes, with Beijmo impressing throughout the whole 90 minutes.

Austria U21s enjoyed a giant-killing victory in their final EURO warm-up match. Werner Gregoritsch’s side beat the U21s side of the reigning world champions 3-1, as Werder’s Marco Friedl made an appearance off the bench in the second half. Hannes Wolf, who will join RB Leipzig this summer, scored a brace either side of Jeff Reine-Adelaide’s equaliser before Husein Balic put the Austrians out of sight late on.
