Werder rounded off their season last Monday with a 7-1 victory against Oldenburg. However, some Green-Whites will only be getting a short break before they’re back in action. The Eggestein brothers have both been named in Germany’s squad for the U21 Euros this summer, with a further eight players called up to their national side.

Jiri Pavlenka kept seven clean sheets for Werder this season, with the goalkeeper also saving 36% of the big chances that strikers had against him. Pavlas will want to continue his good form for Czech Republic in their games against Bulgaria and Montenegro for their Euros qualification campaign. Theodor Gebre Selassie retired from international duty recently so will not be involved.

Milot Rashica and Kosovo are in the same group, and the Werder winger has had a lot of highlights this year. Rashica hit a wonderful free-kick winner in Frankfurt at the start of the season, but really came into his own in the Rückrunde. Kosovo have games against Montenegro and Bulgaria and they look to qualify for the Euros next year. Pavlenka and Rashica will come up against each other in September.

Austria U21s secured their place in the U21 Euros after beating Greece 1-0 in the play-off round. There’s a good chance that Marco Friedl could come up against some fellow Werder players, with Austria facing Germany, and the Eggesteins, on 3rd June at 21:00 CEST. Before that, Austria’s provisional squad will play friendlies against a Südburgenland XI and France U21s.

Ludwig Augustinsson already has 26 caps for Sweden and should get more this summer. The left-back has games against Malta and Spain coming up. Felix Beijmo will play Norway and Finland with Sweden’s U21 side.

One player who will definitely travel with his national side is Milos Veljkovic. The 23 year old has already picked up 9 caps for the Serbian first team and has the chance to represent his country two more times as they face Ukraine and Lithuania as part of their European qualification campaign. Meanwhile, Yuya Osako will represent Japan in his home country during the Kirin Challenge Cup 2019. Osako and Japan will face Trinidad and Tobago and El Salvador.

Striker Josh Sargent has been named in the provisional 40 man squad for the United States national team ahead of the CONACAF Gold Cup 2019. The 19 year old will take part in a training camp with the rest of the side along with the U23s, before a final squad will be announced on Wednesday (05/06/2019) ahead of the tournament.
