Werder have some good news to celebrate, with both Martin Harnik and Aron Jóhannsson back in training with the rest of the team on Tuesday. Jóhannsson has been out long-term, making his last appearance for Werder back in Stuttgart in April 2018.

“We’re all very pleased that Aron’s back after this difficult time for him. He’s now taken the step that Bartels took three or four weeks ago. We’ll now have to see how he copes with the strain,” said Florian Kohfeldt.

With Martin Harnik, being available for this weekend’s game isn’t completely out of the question. “We’re very pleased about how he’s healed. Martin felt no pain, so we tested him in training with the team. If he’s coped well with it, he’ll be back in training again on Thursday and will be available for the Wolfsburg game,” said Kohfeldt. Harnik got injured in the DFB-Pokal round-of-16 game against Borussia Dortmund.

Davy Klaassen and Philipp Bargfrede had to sit out the training session. Both trained individually and will return to training with the team over the course of the week. Whilst Klaassen will definitely take part on Thursday, things aren’t as clear with Bargfrede. However, it seems that both will be available for the game against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday (3rd March, 18:00 CET).
