Werder’s planning for the 2019/20 season is already starting to take shape. Attacker Benjamin Goller is making the move to the Green-Whites from FC Schalke 04. Frank Baumann announced the signing of the 20-year-old on Monday.
Goller, who can play on both wings, will join first-team training in summer. “Benjamin will have pre-season with the first team. He will also take part in both pre-season training camps in Zillertal and Grassau. Then we’ll decide whether he’s a candidate for the first team straight away or whether he’ll go into the U23s to get some game time,” said Frank Baumann.
Goller is looking forward to joining Werder: “SV Werder are one of the big, traditional clubs in the Bundesliga and they play attractive, attacking football. I want to take the next step in my career here and I’m glad that I’ve got the chance at Werder.”
Benjamin Goller made the move to Schalke U19s in summer 2016 after playing in Stuttgart’s youth academy. The attacker has made eight appearances for Schalke’s second team in the Oberliga Westfalen, scoring one goal. He also has two caps for Germany U20s.
