It's the big dress rehearsal for the first round of the German DFB Cup at FV Illertissen. Eight days before SV Werder's 2014-15 competitive season kicks off, the Green-Whites will play a test match at Leicester City on Saturday 9 August 2014 at 4 p.m. (Bremen time). The match against Robin Dutt's team is also the final chance for the English top flight side to fine tune their game before their season starts in earnest.

Leicester's season kicks off one day earlier than Werder's as coach Nigel Pearson's team begin the Premier League against FC Everton at home at King Power Stadium. That match will be much anticipated by the Leicester fans, players, coaching staff and team leaders as the team from the East Midlands will be playing their first Premier League match in more than 12 years.

Celebrations: Leicester City celebrated the championship of the English second flight last season.

After being relegated in 2004, Leicester City played four years in the Football League Championship - the second division in England - before dropping another tier in 2008. Current coach Nigel Pearson took over after the relegation and led the team directly back into the second division. The coach left after the following season, when they placed fifth.

Pearson returned to Leicester in 2011 and under new club leadership, the 50-year-old guided his team to the championship of the second division and the return to the Premier League. But Pearson wasn't the only reason City jumped back to the top flight. Striker David Nugent played a major role in the promotion as the former Portsmouth and Burnley forward tallied 20 goals.

Nugent has continued to find the back of the net ahead of this season as the 29-year-old has scored twice in six test matches - in which the club is undefeated.
