SV Werder had a successful finish to their trip in China as the Green-Whites also won their second match on Asian soil - this time against top flight side Tianjin TEDA. The goals in the 2-1 win were scored by Nils Petersen (52nd) and Eljero Elia (72nd).
Werder had their struggles with temperatures of about 30 degrees, especially in the first half against a motivated opponent. And the Green-Whites watched as Andrezinho and Valencia passed back and forth before Andrezinho beat Raphael Wolf with a shot into the right corner to make it 1-0 in the 41st minute.
Werder began the second half with more energy and equalised after 52 minutes. Elia played a fine pass to Petersen, who only had to push the ball into the net from four yards out for a 1-1 scoreline. Robin Dutt's team pushed forward looking for the winning goal and it fell in the 72nd minute. Theo Gebre Selassie passed to Elia, who scored with a nice shot to make it 2-1.

Robin Dutt: "It was the expected difficult match. TEDA is a really good team which was superbly prepared by my old friend Arie Haan. I am happy that we - even if it was a bit lucky - were able to win."
Cedrick Makiadi: "From a sports standpoint, those were two good friendly opponents under difficult conditions. We had some problems with the air but we fought through and survived the second match as well. Until now, the coach can be satisfied, I think. We accomplished what we wanted to do during the training camp - intensive sessions and friendlies that challenge us physically as well. Altogether it was a positive result."
Clemens Fritz: "We began the preparations eight days ago and until now have trained very well. We were able to collect valuable insight here. We will then work on the fine tuning in the second training camp in Zillertal. We still have a lot of time but we still have a lot in front of us."
