SV Werder collected their third straight test match victory by beating fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-2 in a wild and intensive match. The Green-Whites showed their ability to come back, turning a 2-0 deficit at halftime into a victory with Zlatko Junuzovic scoring twice and Levent Aycicek once in a 10-minute stretch. The match was the final test at the winter training camp in Belek, Turkey.

Werder keeper Raphael Wolf did a good job keeping Gladbach off the scoring board in the 19th minute, batting a shot from Max Kruse off the crossbar. But Wolf was beaten four minutes later as Kruse gave Gladbach the lead 1-0. Melvyn Lorenzen nearly equalised in the 31st minute but shot wide. Gladbach went ahead 2-0 in the 37th minute as Andre Hahn converted a penalty after a foul in the box by Santiago Garcia. That was the deficit at the intermission.

Coach Viktor Skripnik brought on Janek Sternberg, Marnon Busch, Felix Kroos, Johannes Eggestein and Davie Selke to start the second half and Werder began to dominate the game. In the 61st minute, Sternberg set up Aycicek's goal to trim the deficit to 2-1. Eight minutes later, Junuzovic scored his first goal to equalise the match 2-2 with Sternberg assisting on the goal. Werder kept up the pressure and took the lead 3-2 in the 71st minute through Junuzovic again.

Viktor Skripnik about the match: "I can only congratulate my team. We pushed forward, even when not everything worked out. In the end, we can leave with a positive mind frame. I am very happy about that."
