SV Werder won their test match against Kickers Emden 6-2 though Fritz, Prödl and Co. struggled against the tough hosts from the Landesliga in the first half. Despite twice going ahead through Nils Petersen and Zlatko Junuzovic, the match was deadlocked at 2-2 at the break. The Green-Whites increased the pressure in the second half and won comfortably in the end.
Eljero Elia made it 3-2 for Werder after a fine pass from Junuzovic in the 47th minute. Franco Di Santo struck the left post from long range just three minutes later. The Green-Whites took over the game thereafter and Elia scored a second time for a 4-2 lead. Fin Bartels (70th minute) and Santiago Garcia (87th) scored the final two goals to provide the final scoreline 6-2. With his goal, Garcia provided a birthday present for himself.
Dutt about the match: "We are right on schedule"
Robin Dutt about the match: "Congratulations to Emden. Until now, nobody had scored two goals against us. But they had the luck of being the final opponents of the first week of the preparations. You cannot overrate the way the game went. Still we will analyse what happened in the match. The first stage of preparations was very hard but we are right on schedule. I assume we will come back regenerated. In Zillertal we will continue to work on our game and go our way."
