Werder Bremen started the new season with a dominating 14-0 victory against SV Concordia Suurhusen. Robin Dutt's team was clearly the better side against the amateur seventh division team with Niclas Füllkrug the leading scorer with four goals while Aaron Hunt set up four goals and scored one himself.
The 2,200 spectators at the An der Mühle grounds saw a one-sided game from the beginning. Werder led the first test match of the season 5-0 at the break after goals by Aaron Hunt (3rd), Nils Petersen (26th), Özkan Yildirim (27th, 45th) and Mehmet Ekici (33rd).

In the second half, Eljero Elia (59th), Niclas Füllkrug (68th, 70th, 75th, 87th), Johannes Wurtz (76th, 86th), Cimo Röckr (78th) and Clemens Fritz (84th) finished the deal for a 14-0 result. Dutt's team showed lots of passion and enthusiasm.
The new Werder coach was accordingly satisfied with the performance of his team. "There is a rule of thumb: two goals per league difference. We did that with the 14-0 win," joked Dutt after the test match. Despite the first set of intensive training sessions, it didn't seem like Werder had heavy legs. The team is really excited about the new season and they came up with a successful start!
