Werder Bremen's Dutch week begins on Wednesday with a test match against the Dutch top flight side PEC Zwolle and ends on Friday 19 July 2013 with a test match against Ajax Amsterdam.

Three days after the aggravating defeat at VfL Osnabrück, Robin Dutt's team is taking on Dutch first division side PEC Zwolle on Wednesday. "Zwolle is certainly the strongest test match opponent we've faced thus far," said Dutt before the contest at Heinz Dettmer Stadium in Lohne.

Second match-up within six months

Werder player Denni Avdic was on loan last season at the 11th-ranked team in the Eredivisie and played a strong season until getting injured with eight goals in 27 matches. But Avdic cannot say too much about the current strength of the Dutch club. "PEC have a new coach so I can't really say exactly how good they are," said Avdic. The clubs played to a 2-2 draw in their last match-up in January 2013 in Belek.

Avdic injured and confident

The Swedish striker will not be able to help the Green-Whites to victory on Wednesday as he is currently in his homeland rehabbing. "At the moment, I am doing good and working hard on my comeback and to stabilise my knee. But my physio said that I could return to Bremen soon," said Avdic, who did not want to say exactly when he would return.

It will take a while for that, meaning Werder will be without him for their fifth test match of the season. While Dutt said "Of course I would like to win", Avdic was more confident in saying: "Werder have good quality in their squad and will win the match."
