After two intensive training camps on Norderney and in Zillertal, SV Werder have been working on the fine-tuning for the 2013-14 season since Saturday in Blankenhain. The Green-Whites will play a test match on Tuesday 23 July 2013 in Leipzig against third division side RB Leipzig. Kick-off is planned for 6 p.m.
With the support of a major sponsor, RB Leipzig want to make the jump from an amateur team to the Bundesliga. The first big step was taken in the summer of 2013 as they won promotion to the third division with Ralf Rangnick as director of sports leading the club.
RB Leipzig is "very good, ambitious" opponent
Werder coach Robin Dutt has also followed Leipzig's development and knows of the strengths of the favourites for promotion. "RB Leipzig have already started in the league so they are already in full gear. The coach, Alex Zorniger, is a very good friend of mine. I expect a very good, ambitious team. They will really make things hard for us. We also want to be challenged in this stage of the preparations. We have begun to work on the fine-tuning here so it will be important to test these things against good competition and against an ambitious team," said Dutt ahead of the test against RB Leipzig.
