Santiago Garcia has officially been a part of Werder Bremen's team since Sunday and he will play in his first test match for his new team on Thursday evening 5 September 2013. The Argentinean will make his Green-Whites debut at 6:30 p.m. against Hamburg side FC St. Pauli at Hohe Luft stadium.
"It looks very much so that Santiago will play," said head coach Robin Dutt about Garcia's chances of playing. While the Argentinean will get his first minutes for Bremen, Werder's captain Clemens Fritz will miss the match against St. Pauli. "He completed a special build-up program this week, but that is more of a precautionary measure than a set-back after his muscular problems," said Dutt about his captain, who has missed training since Tuesday.

With six Werder players on national team duty, the 48-year-old coach will give two Werder U23 players a chance to prove themselves. Julian von Haacke and Oliver Hüsing will both be part of the roster for the first time. Melvyn Lorenzen took part in training on Tuesday but will miss the match with a muscle injury.
Despite the many no-shows, the test between Werder and the 12th-placed team in Bundesliga 2 is anything but just a kick-around. After starting the season with six points from four matches, the contest will allow players to add more confidence for the coming games.
