SV Werder will face their first real tough test of the preparations on Wednesday when Robin Dutt's team takes on second division side 1860 Munich in Zell am Ziller. Kick-off for the match is planned for 5:30 p.m. For Werder's Aleksandar Ignjovski, the match will be something special as that was his first stop in German professional football.
"Iggy" transferred in 2009 from Serbian club OFK Belgrade to Munich and became a starter a short time later. After 53 games in the second division, Ignjovski moved to Werder Bremen in 2011. "Of course it's a special match for me. 1860 Munich was my first club in Germany. I always keep track about what they do. I know the coach, some players and the director of sports. But I don't have any more contact," said Ignjovski.
"Implement concepts in training"
The game is not only something special for the 22-year-old, but also for head coach Robin Dutt, who will get his first chance to see his team test against a strong opponent. "This is certainly the first tough test for us. It will not be an easy task as 1860 Munich are starting much earlier in their league and is accordingly further along in their preparations. Usually, test matches between first and second league teams are always an equal level showdown," said the Werder coach, who is looking for certain things in the match. "We will try to implement our concepts in training. In addition, I can get my first impression of the international players - all of the players will play."
