In their second test match of the winter training camp, Werder Bremen came up with a solid 0-0 draw against Romanian record champions and Champions League participants Steaua Bucharest. Werder played much better defensively than in their 1-0 test match defeat to NEC Nijmegen and also created some good scoring chances.

"I am happy that you could see that we are a step further than against Nijmegen. Now we need to take the next step against Braunschweig. Other than a couple of incidents, we stood pretty good on defence, not really allowing anything. The push forward was okay up until the box. But you could see on our scoring attempts the most that we were missing the energy because of the training camp we have gone through," said head coach Robin Dutt after the match.

SV Werder made two changes compared to the first test match against Nijmegen. Sebastian Mielitz replaced Raphael Wolf and played the entire 90 minutes while Martin Kobylanski started for Nils Petersen. Özkan Yildirim was back on the bench after missing the Nijmegen match due to irritation in a right knee tendon.

In the evening, the Werder players went to a tapas bar in Jerez to mark the end of the training camp. The final training session will take place Friday morning at 10 a.m. before the team heads back to Bremen at 2:30 p.m.
