SV Werder won their first of three test matches immediately following the season with a comfortable 10-1 victory over a Begatal selection team. Some 2,200 spectators at the Waldstadion zu Bega stadium saw Nils Petersen score three goals despite a rain-drenched pitch against a team made up of players from 11 nearby clubs. The highlight of the match was Sebastian Mielitz as the Werder keeper scored two penalties - to make it 6-1 and 8-1 - in the second half.
Sebastian Mielitz: "The two penalties were really spontaneous. The guys and I decided that on the pitch. Before saying goodbye, I wanted to be on the scoring list as well. That was of course a nice experience."
Robin Dutt: "The pitch was really deep. But of course we couldn't change that. It's good that everyone got to play. I didn't know that Miele was supposed to shoot the penalties. But it was planned that Luki play in attack. I had already said that yesterday."
Aaron Hunt: "We knew that Miele could shoot good penalties. I'm happy for him and for the team. It's nice that we won so clearly here today."
