After three test matches against amateur teams, Werder Bremen will face off against their first professional team on Friday. The Green-Whites will welcome Energie Cottbus to Park Stadium in Zell am Ziller at 5 p.m. It will be a very special match for Nils Petersen as Werder's newcomer played with Cottbus from 2009 to 2011. Petersen scored 25 goals during the 2010-11 season to win the goal scoring crown in the second Bundesliga. "I am really looking forward to this match. I played with a lot of players who are on the squad right now. I had a good time in Cottbus and made a lot of friends there," said Petersen, who has already scored seven goals in the three test matches. "It's nice that Werder are playing against them now. It will be a big reunion."
It will also be a reunion with former Green-Whites as Boubacar Sanogo - who played with Werder from 2007 to 2009 - signed with Energie Cottbus after playing for French top flight side St. Etienne and a long injury break. Sanogo scored six goals in Cottbus's 23-0 victory over VfB Weißwasser last Saturday.
