FC Aberdeen experienced their most successful time under current Manchester United coaching legend Sir Alex Ferguson. Before moving to ManU in 1986, Ferguson won three titles with Aberdeen (1980, 1984 and 1985) as well as four Scottish Cups (1982, 1983, 1984 and 1986). There was also winning the 1983 European Cup Winners Cup title, beating Real Madrid 2-1 in the final. With their 1985 league crown, it was the last time a club other than the Glasgow clubs Rangers or Celtic took the title.

The stadium gates and ticket box office open at 5 p.m. Since the stadium does not have a lot of parking spots, fans are asked to arrive using public transportation. There are also a limited number of spots under the highway bridge Marschweg.
