Werder Bremen won their third test match of the season preparations as Thomas Schaaf's team beat a selection side from Tyrol 6-0 Tuesday evening as part of their training camp in Zillertal. The match was originally scheduled to take place in Park Stadium in Zell am Ziller but was moved to the nearby Linden Stadium in Hippach due to poor pitch conditions.
Schaaf said he was satisfied with his team's 90 minutes of play Tuesday night. "The team did a very, very good job. We have a hard program behind us which makes it all the more impressive how much joy with which we played. The first 25 minutes were very good. Then you could see the strain. In the second half, the players needed time to get into the game but they were able to emphasize the point in the end. Unfortunately we left too many chances unused. But you can see that the team is coming together better and better," said Schaaf.
"We tried to keep the tempo up and really push forward quickly and develop an attack on their goal. And we were able to implement that. It was totally normal that the tiredness showed during the match. We are in the middle of the preparations and still have a long intensive way ahead of us," said captain Clemens Fritz about the match.
