SV Werder Bremen collected their second test match victory within 24 hours. The Green-Whites got goals from Felix Kroos and Johannes Wurtz to secure a hard-fought 2-1 win over TV Jahn Schneverdingen. Werder struggled much more against the seventh division amateur team than they did a day earlier - also because the hosts gave everything they had.
Just like against VfL Oldenburg, the Green-Whites had a strong start and took the lead 1-0 in the 34th minute against a motivated and very defensive-minded team. Nils Petersen back-heeled a pass to Kroos, who took advantage of his opportunity. Wurtz doubled the lead in the 42nd minute 2-0, which was also the score at the break. Werder struggled in the second half and Jahn striker Güven Ayik, the older brother from former Werder player Onur Ayik, played around three Green-Whites defenders and scored a sensational goal to make it 2-1. That was how the game ended for Werder, who did not have that strong of a match.
"A Bundesliga team shouldn't play like this here. We were aggravated about it on the pitch too. On Friday we have to play a lot better," said Petersen afterwards. Bremen take on Atlas Delmenhorst on Friday (kick-off 6:30 p.m.).
