SV Werder had a successful start to their post-season test match series by beating seventh division Landesliga team VfL Oldenburg 6-0 in the first of three friendlies. After a number of missed chances in the first half, the Green-Whites turned the game around after the break with five of the six goals in the second half. Lukas Schmitz scored two goals while Zlatko Junuzovic, Felix Kroos, Mateo Pavlovic and Aleksandar Stevanovic each added one score.
Werder dominated the amateur side throughout the 90 minutes but only tallied once in the first half in front of 2,200 spectators through Junuzovic in the 30th minute for the 1-0 lead. The Green-Whites were quite a bit more effective in the second half with Kroos hitting from long range in the 61st minute. Schmitz tallied in the 68th and 89th minutes while Pavlovic (79th) and Stevanovic (86th) to finish off the 6-0 victory.
Werder's next opponent in the test match series is Wednesday evening against TV Jahn Schneverdingen at 6:30 p.m.
