In the first of two test matches within three days, SV Werder Bremen beat SV Heiligenfelde 7-0 in the VILSA friendly. Nils Petersen scored a hat-trick while Aaron Hunt, Lukas Schmitz, Assani Lukimya and Florian Nagel also tallied goals on the Sportplatz Heiligenfelde (Syke) grounds. The Green-Whites used the match against the amateur Kreisliga team to work on some tactical and personnel changes during the national team break.
As expected, the spectators saw a completely one-sided affair. Petersen opened the scoring after just four minutes to make it 1-0. Petersen headed home the second goal in the 17th minute and Hunt's score in the 37th minute pushed the lead to 3-0, which was also the half-time score. Schmitz, Petersen, Lukimya and Nagel added goals after the break. "There were certainly difficult conditions on the soapy underground. Despite that, we passed very well and also displayed a strong direct push forward especially in the first half," said head coach Thomas Schaaf
