SV Werder Bremen beat SV Eintracht Lüneburg 7-1 in a test match Tuesday evening 6 March 2012. The Green-Whites goals were scored by Denni Avdic (2), Marko Arnautovic, Mehmet Ekici, Niclas Füllkrug, Lukas Schmitz and Florian Trinks
The especially good news was the comeback of Sebastian Prödl. The Austrian played the full 90 minutes exactly 45 days after suffering a serious facial injury against Kaiserslautern. Prödl even took over the captain's armband from Clemens Fritz for the final half hour. "That was a good test for me. It was a good start to get back into it. I think soon I will be far enough along where it gets even better. I was not scared at all. I just kind of held myself back a bit. The certainty will certainly come back with every game here on out. And I will catch up on the other fitness issues in training," said Prödl. Head coach Thomas Schaaf was also pleased with Prödl's return to the team. "It was all about seeing him in competition and seeing if he avoids certain situations. None of that was to be seen. Besides, it was good that he was able to play 90 minutes. He has a good feeling. Now we have to wait for the next few days," said Schaaf.
About the game, Schaaf said: "We can be very, very satisfied. We did what we planned on doing. The team played very motivated, was constantly in motion. Today everyone wanted to showcase themselves and make their presence felt."
