SV Werder won their first match of the 2012 post-season with a 3-2 success against Carl Zeiss Jena. The Green-Whites and the third division side from Thuringia played an entertaining match with Werder having the better start but Jena grabbing the lead 1-0 through Alban Ramaj in the 17th minute. Jena struck the post twice (22nd and 26th) before Marko Arnautovic evened the game at 1-1 in the 28th minute. Shortly before the break, Jena went ahead again 2-1 on a free kick by Josip Landeka.
Werder were a bit more concentrated in the second half and turned game around through goals from Denni Avdic (51st) and Lennart Thy (85th) for a 3-2 victory.
