Job done and little more as Werder Bremen won their test match Friday evening against Oberliga side BSV Rehden 1-0 (1-0). Thomas Schaaf had to change his team in a number of positions and had players playing in different spots in the line-up. And the Werder coach watched his team play cautiously over much of the game. In the end, Kevin Schindler's goal in the 45th minute decided the game.
Rehden played well just 48 hours after their final game of the Oberliga season. The 3,000 spectators at the Waldsportstätte grounds were rewarded after the final whistle as Marin, Fritz and Co. gave autographs to the fans.
Reaction to the game:
Thomas Schaaf: "It was a good test. We moved well. Certainly we didn't pass that well, but you cannot forget that the pitch was pretty uneven here or there. We certainly could have done a bit more with some of our chances."
Samuel: "I am happy that I was able to play for the first time. I prepared well and worked hard in training for this day. I felt good on the pitch, it was a good test."
