Werder Bremen were completely dominated by Bayern Munich and lost their away match against the first placed reigning champions 6-0 on the eighth match day of the Bundesliga. Philipp Lahm and Mario Götze scored two goals each for Bayern while Xabi Alonso and Thomas Müller also tallied for Munich. The loss leaves the Green-Whites in last place on the table.
Two changes
Robin Dutt made two changes to his starting lineup for the match against the table-toppers. Clemens Fritz and Felix Kroos started in place of Marnon Busch and Alejandro Galves. Bayern were dominant from the beginning in front of 71,000 spectators at the Allianz Arena. Werder were put under pressure defensively and struggled slowing down Munich's strong passing game.
Lahm and Alonso score
Bayern went ahead in the 20th minute as Fin Bartels lost the ball against David Alaba, who crossed into the middle where Müller set up Lahm and the Green-Whites' keeper Raphael Wolf had no chance against the Munich veteran as Bremen fell behind 1-0. The score was 2-0 after 27 minutes as Alonso's free kick goal was perfectly placed.

Decision before the break
Bayern did not ease up their pressure and Munich scored their third and four goals before the halftime whistle. In the 43rd minute, Sebastian Prödl fouled Müller in the box and the German international stepped up to the spot and converted to make it 3-0. Götze added a fourth goal in the 45th minute, collecting a cross from Alaba and turning on Assani Lukimya and blasting past Wolf into the right corner - once again Wolf having no chance to stop it. The referee finally ended the first half with Bayern leading 4-0.
The second half
The Green-Whites tried to play stronger defence in the second half and that worked until the 79th minute. But Müller fed a pass to Lahm, who played a give-and-go with Xherdan Shaqiri and then beat Wolf again for a 5-0 lead. The final goal was scored four minutes before the end of the match as the ball went through Franck Ribery and Müller before landing with Götze, who also beat Wolf a second time for the 6-0 final scoreline. Werder were handed a clear and bitter defeat and really never had a chance against Bayern Munich.
